Irish Professional League
I was delighted to win the Irish Professional
League
beating Ken Doherty in the final at the Spawell last wednesday.
In a great match of high quality I managed to win 5 - 4 with breaks of 47
and 51 in the decider.
I organised this league for some extra match practice in between ranking tournaments.
There were eight players from the Dublin area playing five frame matches
with the top two qualifying for the final.
Despite losing my first match 4 - 1 I managed to win the remaining six
to edge out Mick Judge and Joe Delaney to finish second.
I am happy with my form at the moment, highlighted
by my win against Ken in the League Final.
The week before last I was in England practising all week with Ian McCulloch.
I had a great practice with Ian and then great dinners at night courtesey
of his wife Wendy.
Ian is a great match player and my game felt the benefits of this good quality
practice.
All departments of my game got a good workout.
Next week I am going back to England to prepare for the Grand Prix qualifying.
I already have have games arranged with Anthony Hamilton, Stuart Bingham
and Mark King and this will sharpen my game even further.
Thanks for your continued interest and support
and I look forward to giving you a report of the Grand prix
and also the Victor Chandler Irish Professional Championship which takes place
Oct. 9th - 11th.
The season is well and truly under way and I can't wait.
