R.L.W. Grand Prix 2
I am really looking forward to the royal London
Watches Grand prix in Aberdeen.
I start on Saturday against Liang Wenbo and on Monday play Andy Hicks and
Matthew Stevens
and then on Tuesday I play Stephan Hendry and Mark Selby.
All matches are best of five frames with the
top two in each group
qualifying for the last sixteen where the matches are best of nine.
Whilst it is a tough group I am happy with
my form at the moment so there is all to play for.
I played very well to qualify for these final stages at the start of the month
in Prestatyn.
I won six out of seven matches including three centuries.
One of these was a 141 which was the highest break of the qualifiers.
This prize was shared with Marcus Campbell of Scotland, who also had a 141.
In the meantime, I also played in the Victor
Chandler Irish Professional Championship.
I beat Dermot McGlinchey 5 - 2 and had a 104 in frame two
which was 13 reds and 13 blacks before I lost position on the next red.
In the Quarter-Finals the next day though
I lost 5 - 1 to Michael Judge.
Mick made fewer mistakes on the day and played very well after the interval.
He kept that good form going before losing 9- 4 to Ken Doherty in the Final.
But it was good to have another tournament
to play in to help keep my game sharp.
With qualifiers for the Malta Cup, U.K. Championship,
Masters,
and also the Swiss Open, November promises to be an exciting time for me.
Thanks for all your continued support and
interest and
I look forward to reporting on the Grand prix when I get back home.
