New Year Update
The end of 2006 did not work out as well as
I had hoped for.
I played Joe Delaney in the final qualifying round for York and we had a great
game,
but unfortunately I lost out 9 - 7 and that ended my interest in that particular
competition.
This was disappointing as it was the last of the points tournaments for the
year.
On the bright side it did allow me spend more time at home with my wife and
daughter over Christmas.
On December 29th. I travelled to Dungannon
in Northern Ireland to play in the
Barry MacNamee Memorial competition. This takes place around the end of the
year, every year
and I was delighted to be invited to play in the competition yet again.
I played Colm Bingham in the last 16 and won that match 4 - 1.
In the quarter - finals I played Jordan Brown who beat me 5 - 2 and went on
to play Joe Swail in the final.
Joe won the competition 6 -1 and congratulations should go to Patrick Wallace
who organised the competition
up to it's usual high standard. I look forward to playing in it again and
will be trying to win the competiton.
On January 3rd. I travel to the UK to practice
with Ian McCullough, before the qualifiers for the Welsh Open.
After spending a few days practicing with Ian, I will travel to Prestatyn
and will practice with
Ricky Walden at the weekend. On Monday the 8th., at 4 p.m., I will play in
the final qualifying round for
the Welsh Open in Newport.
After the Welsh Open qualifier I will return
to Dublin, where I will be practicing hard before returning to
Prestatyn for the qualifiers for the China Open. From there I look forward
to travelling to Malta
to play Mark Williams in the last 32 of the Malta Open and hopefully go on
to have a good week in Malta.
I hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you all the best for 2007.
