R.L.W. Grand Prix 2007
Even though in a group of six you have to
play five matches, the first match can often prove crucial.
Such was the case in my group. The first three matches all finished 4-3
and the three people who won their matches, finished in the top three places
in the group.
I lost 4-3 to Marcus Campbell in my first
match and later that day I lost 4-1 to Anthony Hamilton.
I knew that I would need to win my last three matches to have any chance for
qualifying for the last 16,
but I lost my next match 4-2 to Michael Holt and then lost 4-0 to Ali Carter.
In my last match I had to play Graeme Dott to avoid the wooden spoon.
I missed a good chance for a maximum in frame 3 when I missed on 88
but went on to win the match 4-2.
At least I had managed to stop the rot and
to finish with a win which meant
I could wipe the slate clean for the next tournament and go in with a win
under my belt.
I still got some very good match practice
and more experience of top level snooker at a venue.
I look forward to another opportunity to play in this great tournament next
year.
