Shanghai Masters Qualifying
I beat Ian Preece 5-3 on September 5th in
to qualify for the Shanghai Masters which will begin on 27th September.
I fly out on the 26th and play Neil Robertson on the 30th in the last 32.
You never really feel settled until you get
your first win of the season,
even if the previous season was a good one.
So I was delighted to beat Ian and, in particular, to play well.
I had a 50 break up to the pink to win the first and made 57 at the start of the next
but Ian played well to come back and win it.
But I played solid matchplay snooker to make it 3-1 at the interval.
I had a chance to make it 4-1 but missed the
green when I was eighteen behind
and Ian made it 3-2 then played a good frame to go 3-3.
I responded very well in the next frame though, from the first chance I got,
I cleared the table with a 137 and played solid in the next to win 5-3.
To win any match is the goal but it is always
pleasing when you respond at crucial times
during a match and to have all departments of your game working well.
I fell like I am up and running now and can't wait for Shanghai.
The day before I travel to Shanghai I have
a match in Prestatyn again
to qualify for the Royal London Watches Grand Prix.
At the venue there is an F.A. Cup type draw for each round
so I would love to be part of that exciting tournament.
