Lucan Racing Snooker Classic 2010
The 4th annual Lucan Racing Snooker Classic takes place on July 24-25th in Celbridge Snooker Club, where I practice.
I will be hoping to go one better than in the previous three years when I have been a finalist.
Joe Swail will be defending his title, with previous winners Davy Morris and Ken Doherty.
They will be joined by Michael Judge, Joe Delany, Martin McCrudden and myself.
With Mark Allen and Patrick Wallace unavailable to play,
rather than invite two other professionals over from England,
I decided to support the amateur game in Ireland by offering two places to two excellent players.
They will be a tough match for anyone.
The draw will take place on 98FM on Sunday July 4th on Johnny Lyons Sports Show from 9 AM.
Johnny has always been a great supporter of Irish snooker and I am delighted to have the chance
to make the draw on his show once again.
Many thanks to Terry Cassidy and all at Lucan Racing for once again sponsoring the event,
especially in these difficult economic times.
The players love playing in the event and, win or lose, have a great week-end.
The Spa Hotel in Lucan, where the players stay, and The Mucky Duck pub in Celbridge
make sure the players are well fed and a drink or two may also be had over the week-end.
Thanks to my Fathers shop Brenfer Trophies of Capel Street for supplying the trophies.
Thanks also to E.J Riley for also sponsoring the event
and for making sure the tables are kept in perfect condition for the tournament.
Adrian Tomlin, who repaired and recovered my professional table for years,
sadly died last Christmas and as a mark of respect The Adrian Tomlin Memorial Trophy will be presented to the winner.
A great guy and brilliant table fitter, he is badly missed.
Thanks also to our referees Shane Corr and Neil Shanahan who do an excellent job.
